some nin fans who went through survival training in the united states air force said that during a certain part of the training they would play "head like a hole" looping the part of "bow down before the one you serve, you're going to get what you deserve". they would also add in other songs that had any lyrics about pain, torture, suffering, etc...

digizine cd-rom
the fall 1995 premiere issue of digizine came with a cd-rom containing a feature on trent, including a bio, a discography, video .avi of hurt and closer and sound clips from the albums.

goldmine magazine
the discography was used as a source of information for an article about nin that appeared in the august 4, 1995 issue of this magazine. it's believed that they virtually reprinted the whole thing.
